We are providing technical assistance and training to the National Assessment component of the Cambodia Education Sector Support Project (CESSP), a World Bank funded initiative to improve basic education. The project will run from 2006 until 2010.

EQIP School Grants Evaluation
During the 2003-04 school year we carried out an end-of-project evaluation of the World Bank's EQIP. EQIP provided more than 1.0 million dollars in school grants to primary schools in three provinces.

Educatodos Evaluation
During 2004 and 2005 we conducted a mixed methods evaluation of Educatodos, an alternative school program serving rural and marginal urban communities. The study was financed by USAID and AED, and carried out as part of the MIDEH project.

UMCE Assessment Project
Sapere has worked extensively with the UMCE national assessment project since its inception in 1996. This project is charged with monitoring student achievement and carrying out educational evaluations in basic education.

Human Capital in Rural Guatemala (HCRG)
During the 2002 school year we collected extensive data on student achievement, attendance, child labor and school quality in a sample of 58 rural schools. The data offer an unusually detailed view into the inner workings of human development in a rural developing country setting.

Comparative Study: Brazil, Chile and Cuba
We participated in Martin Carnoy's comparative study of student achievement and school quality in Brazil, Chile and Cuba, funded by the Ford Foundation. The study generated several papers and a book, and is a valuable contribution to education policymaking in the region (and beyond).
